  • 1st Responder of the Month

  • 1

Lawson, Reid & Dean recognizes a first responder each month for their service to the community. This month, Dooly County Emergency Medical Services selected Mark Chapman. Mark has been a member of Dooly County EMS for the past five years as a part-time employee. Mark has over six years of experience in EMS and is currently working full-time as a supervisor for Amerimed EMS. Mark has an amazing ability to remain calm and adjust to the situation. He can deeply connect with his patients and make them feel at ease during their emergency.

Recently, Mark’s father was diagnosed with cancer, and around the same time, Dooly EMS had a long-time employee retire. Mark not only stepped in and helped cover those additional open shifts until the spot could be filled, he also stepped in and helped with his father during his treatment. With all the additional work placed on him, he still showed great work ethic no matter how busy EMS was.

With the increased stress to patients and family with COVID-19, Mark made sure that each patient and their family were comforted and treated to the highest standard of care possible, which hopefully reduced some of their stress during these trying times. It is for these reasons that Mark has been selected as the recipient of Lawson, Reid & Dean’s February 2021 First Responder of the Month Award.
