Janelle Zabresky, a Pennsylvania native, graduated, magna cum laude, from Clarion University in 2010, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. While at Clarion, she was a member of the Clarion Women’s Basketball team and the University’s Student Senate. After college, Janelle earned her law degree, cum laude, from the Florida State University College of Law in 2013. In law school, Janelle was a member of the Florida State University Law Review and had her article titled “Creating a Safe Harbor for Florida’s Children: An Overview of Florida’s Legislative Evolution in Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking” published in the Winter 2013 issue.

At an early age, Janelle’s dedication to public service and desire to help others inspired her to pursue a career in law. During law school, Janelle served as a qualified representative where she advocated for disabled children in Medicaid waiver termination appeals and rule challenge proceedings at the Division of Administrative Hearings. Janelle also received the Distinguished Pro Bono Service Award after completing 140 hours of pro bono services interning as a judicial clerk for Chief Justice Polston at the Florida Supreme Court.

After moving to Atlanta in 2014, and prior to joining Lawson, Reid and Dean in 2022, Janelle began her legal career in Georgia working at large, renowned defense firms in Atlanta, specializing in the defense of motor vehicle accidents and premises liability claims. After several years of defending corporations and insurance companies in personal injury and wrongful death cases, Janelle decided to follow her true calling – protecting the rights and interests of the victims in those same cases. Janelle’s years of experience as a former defense attorney provides her with a unique insight into how insurance companies investigate, evaluate and defend personal injury claims.

Janelle’s practice focuses primarily on personal injury and civil litigation. Janelle represents individuals and families who have been critically injured or killed because of other’s negligence or wrongful conduct, including auto accidents, slip and falls, premises liability, and defective products. In her career, Janelle has represented sex trafficking victims against hotels that facilitated and profited from their trafficking. Janelle is a fierce advocate for trafficking survivors. She has made it her passion to eradicate trafficking by pursuing civil litigation for survivors and creating favorable precedent for courts to follow in future trafficking cases in Georgia and across the country.

Janelle is admitted to practice in all state of Georgia Courts, including the Court of Appeals. She is also admitted to practice in the U.S District Court, Northern District of Georgia and Southern District of Georgia. Janelle is also licensed to practice law in Florida. Janelle is a member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association.

When she is not in the office working, Janelle enjoys traveling, hiking, golfing, and spending time with her two dogs (Porter and Stella) and cat (Cheetos). Janelle also volunteers her time at Wags and Wiggles Dog Rescue, Golden Retriever Rescue of Atlanta, Atlanta Lab Rescue of Atlanta, and the Atlanta Food Bank.
